                                         FALL 2011

Welcome to our new diving season!

We are ready to start a new season at our 2 new locations: Gladstone Community Center and Park Hill Aquatic Center . We will also have occasional practices on the trampoline in my back yard in Liberty . During the upcoming year we will continue to participate in local and regional dive meets. There is usually a meet in Lincoln , NE in October; a meet in February in Lawrence , KS ; and a meet in May in Columbia , MO. I also hope to get our indoor trampoline and TEVO set up at the Park Hill pool. This summer Park Hill resurfaced both of their boards for us! They also hung our banner in the pool! They have become a great host for our team. Please let them know how much we appreciate them. I also want to thank all of you for being following the pool rules and being gracious tenants at our new locations.
We will continue to have the same schedule as we had this summer: Monday nights 7-9PM at Gladstone , Wednesday nights 7-9 at Park Hill, and Saturday noon to 2 at Park Hill. There is still a slight chance that the Gladstone time may change. Mary will continue to be the Park Hill coach, and Bob and I will coach at the Gladstone pool. As our team grows we may need to add an additional coach on Wednesday nights. Our first practice will be Monday, October 3 at Gladstone .
You will need to register with AAU again this year. Please be sure to use our NEW AAU team code: XTBD3X. By using this number I can easily access your number, which has been important at meets. Please email your card to me once you have registered: mitzimathews@yahoo.com. I must have proof of registration before you can practice with the team.
At this time our fees will remain the same as they have for the past 5 years: $120 for 2 hours a week for 2 months, and $240 for 4-6 hours a week for 2 months. Most all teams also have an annual fee of $100-200 per year. I do not plan to initiate this policy at this time. However, if the team has difficulty meeting our expenses, or if the team membership fluctuates widely, I may reconsider rather than raising our fees. Please send payment to my address: Twisters Dive Team, 1700 Richfield Rd , Liberty , MO , 64068 .
We will continue our general scheduling policy. Divers who practice 2 hours a week and are under 12 years old will dive 7-8PM on Mon and Wed nights. Divers who practice 2 hours a week and are 12 and over will dive 8-9PM on Mon and Wed nights. Divers who practice 4-6 hours a week will dive Mon and Wed nights 7-9PM and noon to 2 on Sat. The coaches believe that divers progress more quickly if they practice 1 hour twice a week rather that 2 hours once a week. However, please let me know if your schedule does not allow for this and we will try to accommodate you. Please call my cell phone if you have questions: 816-510-6221. The Saturday practices are reserved for the more advanced divers.
We have 4 men divers currently competing in the High School season: Austin at Liberty , Brandon and Danny at Staley, and Bryce at North Kansas City . We will be looking for them at the State Championships. Mary and I will probably be going to the State meet, and other divers are welcome to join us to cheer our boys on! We will also watch the Missouri State University diving program as Zach Wheeler and Mesha Peterson will both be diving for them this year!
I will be going to the 2012 Olympic Diving Trials in Seattle Washington in June to watch the diving competition for the selection of our Olympic Team. Tickets will go on sale soon through USA Diving. Let me know if you are interested.
As always I appreciate your input and ideas, and look forward to hearing from you. Mary and I will be updating our website soon. We are always looking for new diving talent to add to the great kids we already have. Let me know if you have ideas for diver recruitment.

Divingly yours!
